E-Bike and E-Scooter Policy & Fire Safety
Due to concerns and risks related to fires started by the lithium batteries powering electric bikes and scooters, these may not be kept in the building or parked anywhere on the property. In addition, batteries for these types of devices may not be charged or stored anywhere in or on the property. In addition, if you use one of the area rental bikes or scooters, it should always be left near the sidewalk curb, away from any buildings, and not blocking the sidewalk.
Fires started by lithium-ion batteries are extremely dangerous and destructive, because they burn much hotter than other types of fires, and can be difficult for even firefighters with equipment to extinguish.

As a reminder, even lithium-ion batteries in smaller items like laptops, cell phones and other personal electronic devices are subject to overheating and can start fires. So, please remember to use good safety practices when charging them:
· Always use UL approved cords and chargers, ideally the one that came with the item. Don't use charge cords that show signs of damage.
· Never leave items charging overnight (which also reduces the life of the battery).
· Do not place items on or underneath soft materials like pillows, sheets or blankets when charging.
